What is this combo finish? Muldrotha + ] + ] + ]. The main reason I put Muldrotha together as a deck was because I liked how I could build it as a strict value deck with a combo finish. So I'll start by saying if you don't have these cards, I can understand you disregarding these suggestions because of their costs. Let me know if I've forgotten any important details. ] (though I ended up preemptively cutting that, as I've always noticed it be too clunky) Here's a list of notable cards I own that I haven't included (yet?): I play a very low count of non-permanents (obviously due to Muldrotha), but am I supposed to find room for something like ]? Should I play ] as a Traumatize-on-legs? Bloodghast, Sadistic Hypnotist, and Ashnod's Altar seem like obvious inclusions in this deck, but I don't know what to cut. I am generally very attached to pet cards or "cute" cards, and so I need help with cuts regarding that. That being said, I'm not a fan of 6-hour games with 7-person pods or anything ridiculous like that. Although I have Spike tendencies, I am a Timmy at heart, and I love some of the grindier games. While I don't mind some sort of combo to dump my library into my graveyard, I don't really want to play a consistent infinite combo deck. I suppose forgetting to add ] (which I do own) in a graveyard deck that plays ] was a silly oversight, but simply putting Bloodghast into play would have done nothing to further my position if Skullclamp were already in my graveyard or if I had no way to find it. I'd often have a bunch of stuff in my graveyard and an empty hand, and that's it. The main problem I noticed over the few games we played was that though cards like ] and ] could put cards in my graveyard, I had little payoff. Perhaps the 1v1 nature of our play coupled poorly with the super grindy late game nature of this deck, or perhaps playing against a deck that more easily finds ] wasn't correct, but Muldrotha looked dismal next to Lord Windgrace. I will preface by saying this is results-oriented thinking, as I played 1v1 (though at 40 life) with a friend against my also-recently-built ] lands deck (which I'm happy to say overperformed beyond my wildest dreams). I played this version of the deck yesterday for the first time, and I was disappointed. I'm used to building competitive-casual decks. I don't really have a playgroup anymore, though I'll be going to a new LGS today to scope out their style. Expensive cards in the list are there because I already owned them. Unless it's an incredibly obvious inclusion that I've simply overlooked, I would prefer not to spend more than $10 per card or $100 total, whichever I hit first (this opens up the option to something like ]. While I am not against spending money on this deck, I don't have the chance to play EDH as often as I used to, so any "big buys" (an extreme example being Lion's Eye Diamond) are simply not something I'm interested in. What am I missing?Īs you will see with a lot of the cards, I went into building this deck with cards I had lying around rather than buying an optimized list. TL DR: I have ways to put things in the graveyard, but I'm missing the big payoffs.
